Position Overview

The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, coordinating progress with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring adherence to construction timelines, resource allocations, and contractual milestones. This role is critical in maintaining project efficiency, supporting decision-making, and minimizing time and cost overruns.


Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning and Scheduling
  • Develop, update, and maintain the Master Project Schedule using Primavera P6 and other project management tools.
  • Define project milestones, critical paths, and sequencing logic in coordination with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
  • Integrate subcontractor schedules into the overall EPC master schedule.
2. Monitoring and Progress Control
  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly progress; analyze variances against the baseline schedule.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports, S-curves, and dashboards for project management and clients.
  • Conduct site visits and progress reviews with field engineers and section in-charges.
3. Delay Analysis and Forecasting
  • Perform delay and impact analysis (EOT claims, resource constraints, weather conditions).
  • Recommend recovery plans and acceleration strategies when deviations occur.
  • Support the project team in contract time-related claims and documentation.
4. Coordination and Documentation
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Civil, Electro-Mechanical, and QA/QC departments.
  • Facilitate planning meetings, reporting sessions, and inter-departmental updates.
  • Maintain accurate planning records, reports, and backup documentation.
5. Project Reporting and Compliance
  • Prepare reports for internal management, client, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with project contract timelines, specifications, and safety/environmental compliance.
  • Support the Project Director and Planning Manager in strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline); Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in project planning and scheduling within large-scale hydropower, infrastructure, or EPC projects, including at least 3 years in a senior/lead planning role.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Excel (advanced).
  • Solid knowledge of project management processes, FIDIC/EPC contracts, and construction methodologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in progress analysis, resource planning, and delay claims.
  • Strong coordination, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Excellent command of English and Nepali; Chinese language proficiency will be an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work in a remote project environment with a 6-day work week.
