A leading nutraceutical manufacturing company is seeking a competent, proactive, and detail-oriented QC Executive – Microbiologist to support microbiological quality-control operations at its manufacturing facility in Kapilvastu.
The selected candidate will be responsible for microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products; environmental monitoring; culture-media and reagent preparation; laboratory-equipment control; documentation; deviation investigation; and compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Microbiological Testing and Analysis
- Perform routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Conduct sterility testing, microbial limit testing, and pathogen analysis accurately and according to approved procedures.
- Ensure all microbiological tests are completed within established timelines and applicable quality standards.
- Review test results and promptly report abnormal, atypical, or non-conforming findings to the reporting manager.
Environmental Monitoring
- Conduct environmental monitoring of production and laboratory areas.
- Perform microbiological monitoring of air, surfaces, and water according to approved procedures and schedules.
- Accurately document environmental-monitoring results and report excursions or unusual findings.
- Support contamination-control measures within production and laboratory areas.
Culture Media and Reagent Management
- Prepare and maintain microbiological culture media and reagents according to approved procedures and applicable standards.
- Ensure culture media and reagents are properly sterilized, labeled, stored, and controlled.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and operational readiness within the microbiology laboratory.
- Handle and dispose of microbiological materials according to established laboratory-safety procedures.
Laboratory Equipment Management
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain microbiology laboratory instruments, including autoclaves, incubators, and related equipment.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is cleaned, monitored, and maintained according to approved procedures.
- Maintain complete and accurate calibration, maintenance, and equipment-usage records.
- Promptly report equipment malfunctions, breakdowns, or performance issues.
- Coordinate equipment servicing and preventive-maintenance activities when required.
Documentation and Record Management
- Maintain proper documentation of microbiological test results, worksheets, logbooks, reports, and laboratory records.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, legible, traceable, and updated on time.
- Follow approved documentation procedures and applicable data-integrity requirements.
- Maintain microbiological records in compliance with company standards, GMP, GLP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Deviation Investigation and CAPA
- Investigate microbiological deviations, abnormal test results, and environmental-monitoring excursions.
- Support root-cause analysis related to microbiological contamination, testing failures, and other non-conformities.
- Assist in developing and implementing appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions.
- Monitor assigned CAPA activities and support their timely completion.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Production, and other relevant departments during investigations.
Quality and Regulatory Compliance
- Perform all microbiology laboratory activities in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, approved SOPs, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure laboratory activities support product quality, consumer safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Follow established laboratory-safety, hygiene, sanitation, and waste-disposal procedures.
- Support internal audits, external audits, inspections, and other quality-compliance activities.
- Promote accuracy, discipline, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the laboratory.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other microbiology and quality-control tasks assigned by the QC Assistant Manager or management.
Qualification Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Candidates should possess one of the following:
- M.Sc. in Microbiology
- B.Sc. in Microbiology
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing industry.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the pharmaceutical or food-manufacturing industry.
- Candidates with experience in nutraceutical or other regulated manufacturing environments may also be considered.
- Practical experience in microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, laboratory documentation, and GMP or GLP compliance is preferred.
