Environment Consultant – Transmission Line & Substation Projects

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to join our team, focusing on environmental assessment and compliance for high-voltage transmission line and substation projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring our energy infrastructure projects meet environmental standards while minimizing ecological impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) for transmission line corridors and substation sites
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans and mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities to obtain environmental permits and approvals
  • Perform field surveys to assess flora, fauna, and habitat characteristics
  • Evaluate potential impacts on protected species and sensitive ecosystems
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental requirements
  • Prepare detailed environmental reports and documentation
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and local communities
  • Provide expert environmental advice during project planning and design phases
  • Conduct environmental audits and compliance monitoring
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, preferably in power sector projects
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes
  • Proven experience in conducting environmental impact assessments
  • Expertise in using GIS software and environmental modeling tools
  • Excellent technical writing and report preparation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certification in environmental management or related field
  • Experience with transmission line routing and substation siting studies
  • Knowledge of wildlife protection laws and biodiversity conservation
  • Familiarity with international environmental standards (World Bank, IFC)
  • Experience in stakeholder consultation and public hearings
