About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to join our team, focusing on environmental assessment and compliance for high-voltage transmission line and substation projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring our energy infrastructure projects meet environmental standards while minimizing ecological impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) for transmission line corridors and substation sites
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities to obtain environmental permits and approvals
- Perform field surveys to assess flora, fauna, and habitat characteristics
- Evaluate potential impacts on protected species and sensitive ecosystems
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental requirements
- Prepare detailed environmental reports and documentation
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and local communities
- Provide expert environmental advice during project planning and design phases
- Conduct environmental audits and compliance monitoring
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, preferably in power sector projects
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes
- Proven experience in conducting environmental impact assessments
- Expertise in using GIS software and environmental modeling tools
- Excellent technical writing and report preparation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in environmental management or related field
- Experience with transmission line routing and substation siting studies
- Knowledge of wildlife protection laws and biodiversity conservation
- Familiarity with international environmental standards (World Bank, IFC)
- Experience in stakeholder consultation and public hearings
