🏭 About the Opportunity
A well-established and reputed cement manufacturing organization is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Automation Engineer to strengthen plant-wide automation and process control operations. The role requires hands-on expertise in PLC/DCS systems, SCADA/HMI platforms, and troubleshooting within a cement manufacturing environment.
This position is critical to ensuring plant uptime, production stability, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement through advanced automation technologies.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
1) Plant Automation System Management
- Manage and maintain plant-wide automation systems, including PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI platforms.
- Perform programming, configuration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to ensure continuous plant availability.
2) Process Optimization & Performance Improvement
- Optimize control logic and automation parameters to improve:
- Production efficiency
- Process stability
- Energy utilization
3) Cement Process Automation Support
- Monitor and maintain automation systems related to cement plant operations such as:
- Weigh feeders
- Kiln and clinker operations
- Grinding and process instrumentation
4) Integration & Coordination
- Integrate and manage control systems with:
- Field instruments
- Electrical systems
- Process control systems
- Collaborate closely with E&I, Mechanical, and Production teams for seamless plant operations.
5) Commissioning & System Enhancements
- Support commissioning activities, system upgrades, and automation enhancements.
- Diagnose and resolve real-time automation issues to ensure minimum downtime and stable operations.
6) Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain and update key technical documents, including:
- Control logic diagrams
- I/O lists
- System architecture diagrams
- Configuration and change records
🧠 Technical Requirements
Automation Platforms & Tools
- Strong proficiency in PLC programming, including:
- Siemens S7 / TIA Portal
- Rockwell Studio 5000 (preferred)
- Working knowledge of DCS systems, such as:
- Siemens ECS (preferred)
- ABB
- Rockwell / Allen Bradley
- Experience in SCADA & HMI configuration and troubleshooting
Cement Plant Exposure
- Strong experience with cement plant systems including:
- Kiln, clinker, grinding operations
- Plant-wide process control instrumentation
Drives & Industrial Integration
- Exposure to VFD systems such as ABB & VACON
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and integration practices
Engineering Documentation Skills
- Ability to read and interpret:
- P&ID diagrams
- I/O drawings
- Automation architecture and system documentation
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in:
- Electrical / Electronics Engineering
- Instrumentation / Automation Engineering or related discipline
- Experience Requirement:
- Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience in cement plant automation
- Demonstrated expertise in PLC/DCS programming and plant-level troubleshooting
