JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager for our large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) hydropower project in Nepal. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing contractual matters, ensuring compliance with FIDIC contract terms, mitigating risks, and handling claims and disputes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contract Management & Compliance:
  • Oversee the execution of EPC contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms, local laws, and international standards
  • Manage FIDIC-based contracts and ensure all parties adhere to the agreed conditions
Claims & Dispute Resolution:
  • Identify and assess contractual risks, delays, and potential claims
  • Prepare and negotiate contractual claims, variations, and extensions of time (EOTs)
  • Work with legal teams and external consultants to handle dispute resolution
Stakeholder Coordination:
  • Act as the primary liaison between owners, contractors, consultants, and government agencies regarding contractual matters
  • Ensure effective communication between project teams, procurement, and finance departments
Cost & Risk Management:
  • Analyze contract costs, payment schedules, and potential financial risks
  • Ensure timely invoices, payment tracking, and financial compliance
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate contract records, including correspondence, amendments, and legal documents
  • Prepare regular contract performance reports for senior management
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Law, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields
  • Professional certifications in Contract Management, FIDIC, or Project Management (PMP) preferred
Work Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in contract management for hydropower, infrastructure, or EPC projects
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contract management and international EPC project frameworks
  • Experience in handling claims, disputes, and negotiations
Technical & Legal Skills:
  • Proficiency in contract drafting, review, and negotiation
  • Knowledge of relevant Nepalese laws and regulations
  • Experience with contract management software and MS Office suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills
Language Requirements:
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of Nepali an advantage
  • Commanding Knowledge in Chinese language additional advantages
